May Festivals

We are deep into festival planning mode these days, with three festivals just in May that we are planning/hosting! Mural Fest (Floral Ave Park in JC on May 5), Grateful for the Dead (Hickories Park, Owego, May 12), and of course Marathon Music Fest Binghamton (all along the Herald of Victory Marathon course in Binghamton, with a finish line party at the courthouse, on May 27). Stay tuned for details as we fill in the schedules of these and our other summer festivals/series/events.

Grateful Dead Tribute: Binghamton ’77 Show

Wow, wow, wow–our Grateful Dead Tribute weekend (recreating the set list of the Broome County Arena ’77 show) was more fun than we could begin to describe. Standing room only and a Dead-loving crowd both nights (at the Binghamton University Downtown Center and at the Cyber Cafe). Huge thanks to all who came out and also to the various local media outlets for helping to get the word out and covering the event! We had so much fun we’re going to do another Dead show at the CyberCafe on Dec. 22–A Very Jerry Christmas. In the meantime, we have plenty of videos from both nights on our Facebook page.

Grateful Dead Tribute: Night 1

Night 1 of our Grateful Dead Tribute weekend is in the books… and it surpassed our every expectation! The Binghamton University Downtown Center was packed to the gills with an all-ages, music-loving crowd, and the atmosphere was super-charged with positive energy and fun. Can’t wait to do it again tonight at the Cyber Cafe! You can see a few photos from night 1 here, and we hope to have more–plus video–soon.

Grateful Dead Tribute

We are thrilled to announce a special, two-night event coming up. On November 3rd & 4th, Voodoo Highway & Company will be presenting a tribute to the Grateful Dead’s 1977 Broome County Arena show on the weekend of its 40th anniversary. We are especially excited to announce that bassist Rob Wenig, formerly of JGB (Jerry Garcia Band), will be flying in from California for the weekend to play the shows with us. We will be playing the set list from the Broome County ’77 show in its entirety on Friday at 6 in the Binghamton University Downtown Center (directly across from the Arena), with an encore performance Saturday night at 9pm at the Cyber Cafe (176 Main St., Binghamton). The Friday night show is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs at Binghamton University. Help us spread the word, and we’ll hope to see you there!

MuralFest on Tap

Rock and Roar was a blast! Check out this writeup of it here. But we aren’t quite done with festival season yet! Next up is Mural Fest 2017 (Saturday, Oct. 7, 11am-4pm), an art and music festival put on jointly by the Department of Public Art and reBold Binghamton, focused on neighborhood beautification and community building. Here’s a video of Mural Fest 2015 and here’s a link to the GoFundMe page in case you want to support this amazing event! This year’s location is Floral Ave Park in Johnson City. Musical lineup features Voodoo Highway (host band), Unity Group, and BU student band POOL. Make sure to RSVP to the FB event page to stay up-to-date on the developing details.

Rock and Roar 2017

We are very excited to announce the lineup for our Labor Day Weekend music festival, Rock and Roar at the Ross Park Amphitheater, presented by McDonald’s. It will be a day full of great music in a variety of genres. We have several new bands on the bill this year, including Binghamton University band Pool (2-time winners of the University’s Battle of the Bands), the great jam band Raibred, folk-rock favorites Next To Kin, and award-winning singer-songwriter Bess Greenberg. These groups will be joining returning musicians Woodshed Prophets, Devinne Meyers, and of course, Voodoo Highway. In addition, our new Grateful Dead tribute project, Voodoo Highway & Company will be making our debut at the festival. There will also be artists set up all around the festival and throughout the zoo. So if you’re within striking distance, mark your calendars and join us for a day of music, art, vendors, and great BBQ by Saucy Hog.
